Webinar | Concept Design of a Large Ammonia-Fueled Container Vessel

This webinar builds upon the conclusions presented in our paper “Concept design of a 15,000 TEU ammonia-fueled container vessel.” The paper presents the outcomes of a project initiated in 2022 by Seaspan and the Center to explore the challenges and opportunities of design a large ammonia-fueled container vessel.

Recommendations for design and operation of ammonia-fueled vessels based on multi-disciplinary risk analysis, another recent publication by the Center and the Lloyd’s Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hub, will be presented first as an example of the industry-leading guidance used during the project.

The vessel’s concept design will then be presented in detail including safety objectives, the impact of ammonia as a fuel on vessel performance, results from the hazard identification (HAZID) qualitative risk assessment, and general arrangement.

Industry perspectives will be provided by Foreship and MAN Energy Solutions followed by a panel discussion and question and answer period.
